DESCRIPTION
A dystopian, dark and harrowing thriller, set in the not far future. A lavish wedding of the capital’s elite is interrupted by riots in the nearby streets. The situation unexpectedly escalates and evolving into a bloody coup, full of mindless violence. On the ruins of the functioning social and political system a new order is established, but will it turn out to be better and more righteous than the previous one? “New Order” is Franco’s first direct social verdict on his homeland: “Mexico’s upper class is asking for trouble: They’re building up to a situation that will finally explode.” he said in interview for Variety. An uncomfortable fact for the viewer is that the action is set in Mexico, but it could happen anywhere.

DIRECTOR
Michel Franco (1979), Mexican film director, screenwriter and producer. After graduating with a degree in communications, he produced commercials and music videos while also making his first short films. Social inequalities, class divisions, poverty and abuse of power are recurring themes in his work, initially resonating in intimate tones, exploding on a macro scale in his latest picture "New Order". Beginning with his feature debut "Daniel & Ana," each of his films has been screened and honored at film festivals around the world, and Franco's work has garnered both critical and audience acclaim.FILMOGRAPHY
