DESCRIPTION
From war-torn Syria, Sam Ali flees to Lebanon. His destination is Paris, he wants to get there and live with his beloved Abeer, who is being forced by her parents to marry another man. A pass to Europe is participation in an unconventional artistic project. Sam’s dream is tattooed on his back – a Schengen visa. Will being turned into a valuable work of art bring Sam the freedom and liberty he craves? What are the limits of artistic expression? The Tunisian director was inspired by the work of controversial conceptual artist Wim Delvoye. Kaouther Ben Hani’s film was nominated for this year’s Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

DIRECTOR
Kaouther Ben Hania (1977), Tunisian director and filmmaker. She studied cinema in Tunisia and then in Paris-Femis and la Sorbonne. Her previous film "Beauty and the Dogs" was premiered at Cannes Film Festival official selection (section Un Certain Regard) in 2017, won the Best Sound Creation Award and was distributed in many countries. She also directed a few documentaries and several shorts, including "Wooden Hand" (2013) and "Sheikh's Watermelons" (2018) which had a long and successful run on the international festival circuit. "The Man Who Sold His Skin" nominated for Oscar is her latest feature film.FILMOGRAPHY
