DESCRIPTION
The caste system, social hierarchy assigned to an identity and impossible to change for whole life has been present in India for a very long time. This situation suits the present government and reinforces casteism in every aspect of life despite the official prohibition enshrined in law. Dalits are considered so “dirty” by the rest of society that their place is at the bottom of the social pyramid, outside the castes. There is a newspaper in the Uttar Pradesh region, run only by Dalit women. Chief reporter Meera, armed just with a smartphone, dreams with her co-workers of building an independent regional news agency. Will they succeed, also in rewiring the traditional mindset of society?

DIRECTOR
Rintu Thomas & Sushmit Ghosh – a creative tandem, in private life married for six years. They are an award-winning director-producer couple from India, grantees by institution from all over the world and Sundance Fellows, among others. They founded Black Ticket Films (2009), a company focusing on non-fiction stories. Their work is used by institutions around the world as supportive, impactful and educational tools. Rintu and Sushmit were honoured for their film work with the President's Medal in 2012, the highest award given to filmmakers in India.
