MUSIC — MY LOVE – 15. Festiwal Filmu i Sztuki Dwa Brzegi | Lubelskie https://www.dwabrzegi.pl 31.07-08.08.2021 Wed, 21 Jul 2021 16:44:31 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.8.4 Silêncio – Voices of Lisbon | PREMIERE https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/events/silencio-voices-of-lisbon-premiere/ Fri, 16 Jul 2021 11:42:38 +0000 https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?post_type=cpt_events&p=38545 We are walking around Lisbon following the footsteps of the film’s co-director Céline, a local foreigner living in Portugal for twenty years. We look at the processes of change, primarily the gentrification of neighborhoods or street quarters that force residents to leave their homes. The lens through which directors direct our gaze is the most Portuguese music – fado. Two artists from different generations – Marta Miranda, who works in world music, and Ivone Días, who only fulfilled her dream of singing fado when she retired – share a common musical language and a desire to preserve a multi-generational culture and community.

Paolo Conte, via con me | PREMIERE https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/events/paolo-conte-via-con-me-premiere/ Fri, 16 Jul 2021 11:30:28 +0000 https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?post_type=cpt_events&p=38543 Paolo Conte is the master of Italian actor song, singer, songwriter, composer and a lawyer who was destined to continue the family tradition and become a solicitor. His compositions resound with Italian or more broadly – Mediterranean sounds, as well as jazz music and South American vibes. The title of the film is also the title of his most famous song. Verdelli draws on Conte’s immensely rich personal archive, from filmed footage of international tours to the many special moments that make up an absolutely unique career – for example for the first time we will see Conte in his studio in Asti, drawing and talking about his music.

The film was obtained with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute.

For Lucio | PREMIERE https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/events/for-lucio-premiere/ Fri, 16 Jul 2021 11:25:11 +0000 https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?post_type=cpt_events&p=38541 The story of poet, singer, artist Lucio Dalli is shown in a wider context – the post-war history of Italy up to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Rapid changes, a poor agricultural country entering modernity, the inevitable clash of attitudes, expectations and worldviews – all this is reflected in the work of an artist who was listened to by rich and poor, women and men. Dalla had an uncanny sense of people, of everyday life, of the excluded and the marginalized. A film about Lucio Dalla had long been a dream of Pietro Marcello, and the director – in addition to a social view – wanted to show not only the artist, but also the man before he became famous

The film was obtained with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute.

Firestarter – the Story of Bangarra | PREMIERE https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/en/events/firestarter-premiere/ Fri, 16 Jul 2021 11:18:06 +0000 https://www.dwabrzegi.pl/?post_type=cpt_events&p=38539 Bangarra Dance Theatre, as a newly born company, was taken on by three brothers more than thirty years ago. The artistic director is Stephen Page, the composer is David Page and the lead dancer is Russell Page. As Bangarra enters its fourth decade, it has the status of an ambassador of Australian culture, an award-winning modern dance company with sold-out shows, respected and admired around the world. It is based on a culture of Indigenous Australians that has lasted for 65,000 years. Despite the fame and honour its key creatives still struggle with rejection, grief, and a sense of loss. The combination of the two directors’ points of view, an Aboriginal man and a non-Indigenous woman, explores these questions about inter-generational suffering.
