DESCRIPTION
The case of Tomek Komenda was an widely discussed and unbelievable shocking mistake of the Polish justice system. A Kafkaesque sentence of twenty-five years in prison was sentenced to a young man, wrongly imprisoned for the rape and murder of a teenage girl. Thanks to the determination of a police officer and two prosecutors, the case was reinvestigated and Komenda regained his freedom after serving eighteen years. Jan Holoubek’s film captures the fate of the protagonist who, despite being cast into the depths of hell, retains his dignity. The story is full of hope and love. A strong bond with his family helped Komenda get through the toughest times.

DIRECTOR
Jan Holoubek (1978), Polish cinematographer, screenwriter and director. Graduate of the Cinematography Department at PWSFTviT in Łódź. He began his career as a cinematographer in documentary films, and television productions, including TV Theatre productions. In 2007, he won the main award at the "Youth and Film" Festival for his short documentary film "Sun and Shadow". In 2018, he directed the crime series "Rojst", for which he was nominated for the PNF "Eagles" for best feature film series. A year later, he earned another nomination for co-directing the series "Inverted. Fathers and Daughters" (2019). He also has over a hundred television commercials to his credit and several screenplays, including for the film "1800 Grams" (2019).FILMOGRAPHY
