Aznavour, the son of Armenian migrants of slight posture and extraordinary voice, created nearly thousand songs and made a lasting mark not only in the history of France, but also in world popular music. This film would have never been made if it weren’t for Édith Piaf. It was her who, in 1948, gifted Aznavour with the first Paillard camera. The artist is charmed by the new medium, he keeps his visual diary recording his life and almost never parting with the camera. Thanks to hours of footage, we see all the key moments of his life from his own perspective, from behind the scenes, moments that are important and groundbreaking, but also trivial and ordinary. The decision to make them into a film was made by Charles Aznavour a few months before his death, he started the work with Marc di Domenico.
