DESCRIPTION
The story of the Lebanese civil war in Libya told from the perspective of one family. In the 1950s a Swiss woman, Alice is spending time in sunny Beirut. She falls in love with Joseph, an astrophysicist whose mission and dream is to send the first Lebanese into space. Alice befriends Joseph’s family, they marry, and a daughter is born. The family idyll is interrupted by a shooting – the outbreak of an armed conflict. For Alice, Joseph and their daughter Mona, it is a time of trial, of dilemmas – to leave or to stay, and of growing incomprehension. Everyday life becomes more and more frightening. Mazlo weaves a tale of a paradise lost with great sensitivity, weaving elements of animation into the visual layer.

Chloé Mazlo (1983) is a French-Lebanese filmmaker, based in Paris. After studying graphic design at the Arts Décoratifs school in Strasbourg, she specialized in animated film directing, at the intersection of several film techniques. Her short films have been selected in various festivals in France and abroad, broadcasted on television (France 2, Canal +) and won several awards. Her "Les Petits Cailloux" (2015) won the Best Animated Short Film award at the César. "Skies of Lebanon" (2020), starring Alba Rohrwacher and Wajdi Mouawad, selected in Cannes Critiques Week is her first feature.FILMOGRAPHY
