DESCRIPTION
Do unbearable, terrible situations randomly happen in our lives? Or is nothing a coincidence and everything can be predicted and therefore avoided? Or is it God’s hand guiding events for a greater good that is hard to see from a singular perspective? An ex-soldier, Markus returns home to take care of his teenage daughter, orphaned by her mother due to a train accident. A witness to the crash, a math geek, enters the emotionally problematic situation, presenting an alternative reason for his wife’s death and undermining the version about the crash and presenting an alternative one – it’s a planned assassination and Markus’ wife is an accidental victim.
DIRECTOR
Anders Thomas Jensen (1972), writer and director, winner of many awards, one of Denmark's best known filmmakers and most talented screenwriters. In 2003, he received the Bodil award for his contribution to Danish cinema. Jensen is known for creating a unique cinematic universe full of black humor and colorful, contrasting characters. In 1999 he won an Oscar for the short film "Valgaften". This success followed two previous Academy Award nominations for his short films "Wolfgang" (1997) and "Ernst and the Light" (1996).FILMOGRAPHY
